The Canadian Palladium Maple Leaf is the first palladium coin to be issued by a government mint; it bears the traditional maple leaf symbol and is .9995 pure.
First struck in 2005 by the Royal Canadian Mint, the Palladium Canadian Maple Leaf has established itself as a worthy progenitor in the distinguished line of Maple Leaf bullion coins. Indeed, Maple Leaf products remain one of Canada’s premiere coinages, pursued across the globe by investors and collectors alike, and the Palladium edition is no exception.
Par for the course with much of Canadian coinage, the obverse of the Palladium Maple Leaf presents a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Inscriptions include the coin’s denomination — it bears a face value of $50 — as well as its year of issue. The reverse features — you guessed it — a maple leaf, the enduring national symbol of the country. But while the images themselves may be a tad predictable, the craftsmanship is a delightful surprise: the coin is truly immaculate, down to the finest elements. It is truly a special piece of work.
The Palladium Canadian Maple Leaf coin weighs 1 oz. and is made of the purest palladium (.9995 fine) with no alloy. Its diameter is 38 mm and its width 3.29 mm. Storage of these coins is especially convenient, as the Royal Canadian Mint has seen fit to innovate a special hard plastic tube that holds up to ten coins at a time.
The Palladium Maple Leaf was first produced by the Royal Canadian Mint from 2005 through 2007, and then again in 2009. It’s the first palladium coin to be produced in Canada. Compared with the historically more ubiquitous silver and gold Maple Leaf coins, the Palladium Maple Leaf has been minted at a significantly lesser rate, raising the potential for increased value in the long-term due to its scarcity.
The coin is guaranteed by the Canadian Government for both weight and purity. It is eligible for Precious Metal IRAs.
Midas Gold Group is more than happy to advise prospective buyers on whether the Palladium Canadian Maple Leaf is right for your collection. Any coin bought from us will always come to you in immaculate condition straight from the mint itself.
