Even though the Johnson Matthey Silver Bars are no longer produced, they are the “gold standard” of privately minted .999 fine silver bullion bars.
From the venerable refiners at Johnson Matthey, the Johnson Matthey Silver Bar featured here in the popular 10-ounce size wisely maintains the winning formula of its past editions; the result is once again the same: investors are lining up for this highly recognized, trusted and dependable bullion bar.
Celebrated for its simple, elegant design, each bar features ten troy ounces of .999 pure silver with its own unique serial number guaranteeing authenticity. Otherwise, this re-release is a careful continuation of past tradition, and in the case of the venerable and respected refiners at Johnson Matthey, such consistency seems to be exactly what collectors are pining for.
The JM bar weighs in at ten ounces of sterling silver. The serial number of the re-release series begins with “A001001”, stamped on the obverse side. The reverse side features the simple elegance of the JM initials.
As North American bullion production has recently been halted by Johnson Mathey, the remaining bars look poised to reap extra value on the secondary market — something savvy investors are realizing, thus driving up demand. It’d be a good idea to act as soon as possible on this rapidly closing window.
Johnson Matthey boasts a uniquely rich history. The company began in 1817 when Percival Norton Johnson opened up shop in London, operating a gold assaying business. Johnson met his match with the arrival of George Matthey, who in 1852 teamed with Johnson and their new joint venture gained the lofty status of the official Assayer and Refiner of the Bank of England. It wasn’t long before the company rose to become one of world’s most successful producers of precious metals and bullion.
In the 20th century, the concern shifted its focus from precious metals to chemicals and banking, even ceasing production of silver bullion for a time. That all changed in the current millennium, which saw the company re-enter the bullion market to great fanfare, quickly getting back to the top of the game with their celebrated one and ten ounce silver bars.
In 2014, Johnson Matthey sold its North American facilities to the Asahi Group of Japan. Registering some surprise on the international scene, the Johnson Matthey has nevertheless managed to maintain its reputation as perhaps the best recognized and respected private bullion refiner worldwide.
As always, the Midas Gold Group is more than happy to advise prospective buyers on whether the Johnson Matthey Silver Bar is right for your collection. Any merchandise bought from us will always come to you in immaculate condition straight from the mint itself.
